Melinda began singing solos in church and in school programs. Formal voice lessons began when she was nine years old. At an early age, she was introduced to Opera and Musical Theatre. Fortunately, opportunities to perform in operas and other musicals began in the Cimarron Circuit Opera Company in Norman, Oklahoma when Melinda was eleven. She continued in musicals through grade school and eventually earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre Performance from The University of Oklahoma, and she earned a Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera from Northwestern University. She is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and Actors' Equity Association and has performed with Lyric Opera of Chicago, Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Music Theatre of Wichita and the John W. Engeman Theatre among others. She has been a soloist with orchestras and chorales including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Northbrook Symphony, and the Downers Grove Choral Society. Currently, she is a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus. Melinda has a love for sacred music and enjoys singing both traditional and contemporary Christian music. This has afforded her with opportunities to be a member of praise teams as well as chancel choirs. Melinda believes singers should inspire, soothe, uplift and celebrate. Please feel free to contact her for whatever occasion you need; whether it be a church service, concert, opera, wedding, musical, etc.
